About the Senior Staff Physical Therapist Position:

The main distinction between a staff PT and Senior Staff PT is leadership, teaching, and clinical specialization. OCS is highly valued in this position but not required. BSM has a path to completion of OCS. The Senior staff PT is a team leader responsible for the productivity, career development, and growth of their assigned support staff.

Senior Staff Physical Therapist responsibilities:

  • Two or more years of experience as a Staff Physical Therapist is desired
  • Demonstrate adequate experience mentoring new clinical staff
  • Demonstrate adequate experience in working with support Physical Therapist Assistants and Exercise Specialists
  • Experience as a clinical instructor for at least two clinical affiliating students
  • Extensive advanced clinical education completed for career development
  • Develop advanced knowledge, focus, community relations, or specialization
  • Act as a mentor to newly hired clinical staff
  • Participate in all staff meetings including taking an active role in planning and presenting
  • Play a role in determining and addressing the community needs for services
  • Develop and complete training of support staff
  • Meet with the practice manager on a monthly basis
  • Establish and maintain a list of community partners who refer to BSM
  • Suggesting new clinic equipment needs with an evidence-based usage case

General Physical Therapist Responsibilities:

  • Identify and meet patients’ goals and needs

  • Offer cost-effective treatments that help improve clients’ motion and mobility

  • Reduce the need for medications and provide alternatives to surgery

  • Develop care plans using a variety of treatment techniques

  • Create fitness and wellness-oriented programs tailored to patients’ specific needs

  • Provide quality, personalized and evidence-based care and proven interventions

  • Motivate patients during treatment to help them function optimally

  • Promote clients’ healthy lifestyle by improving strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination

  • Consult and practice with other health professionalsEvaluate effects and monitor and communicate progress

  • Document patient care services

General Physical Therapist Requirements

  • Graduate degree or greater in physical therapy

  • Valid license to practice physical therapy

  • Ability to manage patients with different types of personalities

  • Current knowledge of treatment practices

  • Drive to learn and grow on a constant basis

  • Professional behavior

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
